Tour Highlights

Simply coming during the opening hours will not ensure you get to see Sagrada Familia inside. In fact, its one of the top 10 attractions in the world up there with the Coliseum and Louvre. Since the number of people that can be inside the church at once is not without limit, tickets are often unavailable; especially in summer months. However, with us, you can book Sagrada Familia tickets in advance or get the lucrative last minute tickets to satisfy your spontaneous nature.

With our priority access tour, you will swiftly skip the line and plunge into the awe-inspiring Sagrada Familia interior without further ado. Unlike dark gothic churches cathedrals that may come across as animose, La Sagrada Familia is full of colorful light that enters through the stained-glass windows and playfully bounces off the white tiles and stones. The church is still under construction and is expected to be completed in 2026.

To Gaudi, the color was the expression of life and could not miss in a place of worship. Moreover, every stone, rock, statue, ornament, column, the curve has a symbolic meaning that connects nature with the divine. It's a one-of-a-kind experience, don't make it dull with the monotone description of an audio guide! Best guided tour of the iconic monument, our expert guide will take you on an exciting journey answering your every query and satisfying your curiosity. We also provide headsets allowing you to hear the guide easily even in larger groups. You can learn more about what inspired Gaudi through drawings, photographs and documented plans for the Sagrada Familia in the museum below the church.

History Sneak Peek

The structure and patterns so typical for Sagrada Familia today were not a part of the original plan. The construction began in the 19th century on a commission of a bookseller Jose Maria Bocabella. His dream was to build a church devoted to the holy family (Sagrada Familia). Initially, Boca Bella hired the architect of the Diocese, Francisco del Villar. However, he and Boca Bella didn't get along. Hence, Villar barely managed to finish the crypt before the bookseller fired him. Instead, Boca Bella hired a young visionary Catalan architect, Antoni Gaudi to take over the project. The whole world is probably glad he did!

Sagrada Familia Symbolism

Gaudi's inspiration came from the Christian teachings as well as nature. Leaning columns branch out like trees; stained-glass windows are made of Venetian glass; ceramic stones of varying colors overflow with Christian symbolism. The church has three facades, the Nativity, the Passion and the Glory, and distinctive towers, each carrying a different meaning. The central tower, still unfinished, is dedicated to Jesus; the tower crowned by a star represents the Virgin Mary; the remaining 12 towers represent the 12 apostles.

Gaudi's Life Work

Sagrada Familia became Gaudi's life work. It became a channel for his ideas of nature-inspired modernist design that pays tribute to the Roman Catholic church and holy family. He tirelessly worked on the project until his unfortunate death on the 10th of June 1926. Given its impressive design and size, people started to refer to the church as the Cathedral even though that is not the case. It was only in 2010 when Pope Benedict XVI raised the status of the church to the Basilica of the Sagrada Familia.

Even if you are not a massive fan of churches, Sagrada Familia offers a one-of-a-kind experience deserving of your attention. Book your La Sagrada Familia tour with us and let the ethereal beauty of this unusual church awe you! We also recommend you to buy Park Guell tickets as it's one of the most visited parks in Europe.
