You don’t get to see Colosseum (or be in Rome for that matter) every day. Make sure your experiences count!
Located just east of the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, the Colosseum sits in the heart of Rome. This enormous amphitheater was commissioned by the Roman Emperor Vespasian of the Flavian around 70 AD. He wanted to keep the masses happy and entertained.
For centuries, the emperors used it to put on all sort of “fun” games including gladiator battles and wild animal fights. After over 400 years, the popularity of the games faded. However, it was a particularly strong earthquake that conquered the Colosseum, and it crumbled. The rubble of the fallen facade became a source of building materials for countless buildings in Rome. Whatever its fate, it doesn’t change the fact that it the largest amphitheater Romans ever built. It could fit over fifty-thousand spectators. Impressive, isn’t it?
We might try, but it’s impossible, to sum up, the intriguing Colosseum history in a couple of paragraphs. Isn’t it better to learn while walking through its halls and standing under the arches? It certainly helps to paint the picture of the past…

This tour was fantastic! Skipping the line is worth it!
Our teen kids absolutely loved this tour despite a great deal of walking and standing. Our guide was terrific, knowledgeable and entertaining, great at communicating with the kids too. They were excited to see the things they learned about in history class.
It was an amazing tour. The day we went there were only 2 couples, so for a group tour, it was very intimate. The guide had lots of knowledge and answered all our questions, we enjoyed it a lot
This was an amazing experience and worth every penny! August was so busy in Rom!! I hate queuing and have no patience for it.... even though the line stretched all around the colosseum, our tour guides got us right in. The only queue we had to make was just a quick one for security. After that, our tour went smoothly, the guide was very knowledgeable and you could feel his enthusiasm about Rome and history. I recommend this tour for everyone wanting to enjoy the colosseum to the fullest.
Great experience. Recommended!
