What about the history of these ancient towns?
Pisa, for instance, is much more than just a town with a cooked bell tower. For centuries, the town flourished in all areas including commerce, culture, and education. Although, nobody is quite sure who actually founded Pisa. The ancient Roman texts only mention it as “the old city.” In any case, thanks to its convenient location, Pisa came to be a bustling port town sculpted by many global influences.
Lucca, on the contrary, grew from the seed of Etruscan civilization which lived in the region for centuries. However, it became a Roman colony in 180 BC. Its history is as colorful and exciting as that of Pisa, Siena, or Florence. It’s up to you to discover more!
