History Sneak Peek

Cinque Terre is one of the most stunning destinations famous for its hiking trails, crystal clear waters, and gastronomic delicacies. Still, it's not as mainstream which makes it a great refuge from the usual tourist crowds. It only became popular in the 60s. Until then, the villages lived their quiet fishing life hidden from the world.

The impact of tourism on the area is under strict control as Cinque Terre is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site and has been a part of the National Park of Cinque Terre since 1999.

Regarding politics, Cinque Terre has never played a significant role on the European historical scene. For the most part, the area quietly endured and accepted external political forces such as Pisa or Genoa. In other words, Cinque Terre region has been a place of peaceful farmers and fishermen, occasionally pillaged by pirates. Locals often had to run for cover running into the forests.

Spend an unforgettable day exploring the Ligurian landscapes and the warm and welcoming Cinque Terre villages. Book our Cinque Terre and Portovenere Tour and enjoy the rocky coasts riddled with sea caves, beaches, and hiking paths.
