Take a break from Rome sightseeing meeting local people, learning how to make a typical Roman dinner menu from scratch! Meet your host in the amazing Piazza Mattei, in the hearth of the Jewish Ghetto of Rome. No worries about the name “Ghetto”, this is one of the safest and charming area of Rome, beloved by locals and full of history. [readmore] Though Rome’s Jewish Ghetto no longer officially exists, the neighborhood is still bearing the old name and is the heart of Rome’s Jewish community, the oldest in Italy.


The city’s 19th-century synagogue, named “The Temple” is located in the area as well as a number of restaurants and shops selling Kosher, Jewish roman, and Roman food. Today, despite its unhappy history, the Jewish Ghetto is now one of Rome’s most beautiful neighborhoods that worth to be visited in the easy-going happy lifestyle, which is famous for.


Head to the restaurant wen chef Paola waits for you to reveal secrets and recipes. This is a hands-on class, but if you’d just like to be a spectator you can relax, watching her working, with a glass of wine.


You’ll learn to make home-made pasta from scratch, cleaning and preparing seasonal vegetables to fry, creating a simple and tasting dessert that all roman grandmas used to cook for local kids. Learning history and legend around the Jewish quarter and its unique food style and lots of chatting.


Seasonal food is a must in Rome, in the winter class, you’ll have the opportunity to learn how to peel artichokes to be cooked at the Jewish Style, one of the highlights of Roman cuisine. In the Summer’s class, you’ll learn how to prepare zucchini flowers or any other amazing fresh vegetable to make the original “fritto romano”.


In the end taste the amazingly baked ciambelline al vino, the famous crunchy donuts made with four simple ingredients. The class will take 3 hours approximately and will be taken in a cozy room of a historical 100 building in Rome city Centre. The experience is suitable to everyone, vegan people are welcome, not suitable for celiacs. It can be alcohol-free if requested. Kids are welcome!
