The Roman city of Itálica has its architectural and historical value rooted in major past events. Not only is it the birthplace of Emperor Trajan (and most likely Emperor Hadrian too), it's also the first Roman city after the defeat of Hannibal by Scipio in the decisive battle of Ilipa Magna.
The city of Itálica preserves has one of the largest amphitheaters in the world. It also has many ancient streets and domes which have been well preserved and/or restored. [readmore] Itálica is not a well-known place for most visitors of Seville, which means it's much less crowded than it should be. As it is only 12 kilometers from Seville, it's the perfect distance for a bike ride! You will cycle through the old Via de la Plata, passing through the monastery of San Isidoro del Campo (where the first translations of the Bible into Spanish were made).
After arriving in Italica, you will be given a two hour guided tour of the city. The total duration of the tour is approximately 5 hours and you will have a choice of five languages: Spanish, English, French, German and Italian. Bikes are included!
