The mastermind behind the Ferrari brand is Enzo Ferrari from Modena. Enzo dedicated his life to designing and building sports cars and racing. In 1924, he became an official Alfa Romeo driver. Still, just after five years, he went to found Scuderia Ferrari in Modena. The company's history started officially in 1947 when the first ever Ferrari model left the factory.
The first historical mention of the balsamic vinegar dates to 1046 when Emperor Enrico III of Franconia received a bottle as a gift. While today we use it mostly for culinary ventures, in the Middle Ages, people used it as a disinfectant. Consequently, it had a positive reputation of a miracle cure good for all aches from a sore throat to labor pain.
Balsamic Vinegar of Modena (Aceto Balsamico di Modena) is a protected product and can only be made Modena and Reggio regions. Its essentially an aged reduction of sweet white grapes. Young vinegar matures from 3 to 5 years; middle-aged from 6 to 12 years; and old (the most expensive one) takes 12 to 150 years to mature.
Parmigiano-Reggiano is an invention of the 11th century. The production started in the Enza valley. Soon, it spread through the provinces of Parma, Modena, Reggio Emilia, Mantua on the right side of the Po River and to Bologna to the left. The cheese is an elaborate synthesis of special milk, heat, craftsmanship, and aging. The typical rounded forms are 20-24 cm high and around 40 cm wide, weighing 37 kg on average.
