Very good tour

Tour and tour leader were excellent. Pity that the visit to San Gimignano was marred by a severe rain storm, but it was outside of the control of the service provider.

Our Guide Constantin was awesome

The tour was perfect, must seen places when you have a chance. We were lucky enough to have full moon on that day which made Pisa’s pictures awasome. Our tour guide Constantin and the driver Michalo were awesome very professional and informative.

Bus ride was uneventful

All was OK but we had to wait almost an hour for the guide to go find some idiot who did not return to the departure meeting point as instructed.

Duomo di Siena’s façade is a towering wonder of polychrome marble and one of Siena’s most impressive architectural features. The facade combines varying architectural styles: French Gothic, Tuscan Romanesque, and Classical. Moreover, it features three portals, of which the central carries a bronze sun on the top. Don’t miss out on the chance to marvel at the opulent sculptures and intricate mosaics

Santa Maria Assunta Siena: Highlights

  • The Siena Cathedral interior is sure to grab your attention, with its black and white marble stripes on the columns and the decorative walls. There are also 172 plaster busts of all the popes from the 15th and 16th centuries throughout the church’s interior.
  • Look up to the asymmetrical dome topped with Bernini's gilded lantern. At first sight, the dome appears to have supports built into it. However, one of the Siena Cathedral facts you’ll learn from your expert guide is that this is an optical illusion, and the supports are actually painted on.
  • The Cathedral Siena tickets entrance fee allows you to see Nicola Pisano’s pulpit in the center of the Siena cathedral; this alone is well worth the small fee to get inside. Admire this striking exquisite design, which was one of the first indications of the start of the Renaissance.
  • Admire the stunning Siena Duomo floor consisting of 56 panels, each depicting scenes from the old testament, allegories, and virtues.
  • Scale 130 steps to the panoramic terrace in the unfinished facade of the Duomo Nuovo (New Cathedral). History has it that in the 14th Century, it was decided that the Duomo di Siena should expand. Due to various difficulties, the construction stopped, leaving the building as a splendid viewpoint with breathtaking views of the city.
