Thoroughly enjoyed the day.

They pack in a lot of things to do in one day. Ellie (guide) and Raúl (driver) were great.

If you've never been to Siena before then I highly recommend taking this guided tour. Siena is such an interesting city and our tour guide knew absolutely everything.

Everything was good except the lunch

The place is beautiful but the food is not OK. I will advise to bring your own lunch.

Our Guide Constantin was awesome

The tour was perfect, must seen places when you have a chance. We were lucky enough to have full moon on that day which made Pisa’s pictures awasome. Our tour guide Constantin and the driver Michalo were awesome very professional and informative.

SIENA CATHEDRAL

If you’re in Siena, a visit to the Cathedral is a must. Its facade is a towering wonder of polychrome marble and one of Siena’s most impressive architectural features. Built in stages, the facade combines French Gothic, Tuscan Romanesque and Classical architecture. Moreover, it features three portals, of which the central carries a bronze sun on the top. You could spend hours marveling at the lavish sculptures and the intricately mosaiced gables. For example, one of them depicts the coronation of the Virgin. But, then you’d miss out on all of what the inside has to offer. So, do yourself a favor and get yourself some Siena Cathedral tickets so you can see the interior.

Once inside, the black and white marble stripes on the columns and the walls will immediately take your attention. They are the civic colors of Siena’s coat of arms. Along the horizontal moldings of the nave are 172 plaster busts of all the popes from the 15th and 16th century. But, it is the asymmetrical (shaped like a hexagon) dome capped by his gilded lantern that takes the cake. At first sight, the dome appears to have recesses built into it, but a fun Siena Cathedral fact is that this is an optical illusion and they are in fact, painted on. These are all sights you wouldn’t be privy to if you didn’t have Siena Duomo tickets.

The centerpiece of the Cathedral and what makes your Siena Cathedral tickets worth their small fee is the pulpit. Nicola Pisano sculpted this striking feature and not only can you marvel at its exquisite design, but you can also stand in good stead knowing that it was one of the first indications of the start of the Renaissance. The lions that hold up the pulpit point to a shift away from Gothic style and towards the beginning of the Renaissance period. If that doesn’t blow your socks off, then what will?

Cathedral’s often direct your attention upwards. Don’t let that be the case here because the inlaid mosaic marble of the Siena Duomo floor is out of this world and when you notice it, it's a struggle not to take your shoes off and spend the rest of the afternoon tiptoeing around. The floor consists of 56 panels each depicting scenes from the old testament, allegories and virtues. They are truly stunning in their detail and beauty.

This church in Siena also boasts fantastic art from some of Italy’s best medieval and Renaissance artists. Amazing paintings by Simone Martini and Lippo Memmi decorate the side of an altar. Furthermore, there are some incredible statues by Michelangelo, Donatello and Bernini about the place.
