Best Pisa

The leaning tower is only 5 minute walk from Train station. Pisa leaning tower ticket price is might be little high but that's the better opt to take.

Bus ride was uneventful

All was OK but we had to wait almost an hour for the guide to go find some idiot who did not return to the departure meeting point as instructed.

A lovely morning out

We arrived in Florence by train and took a city bus to the station on the day of our tour. The tour bus station is a bit of a walk from where the train station entrance is, so factor in a little time to walk there. I used the meeting point info provided with our ticket and showed the address to security at the station to get the correct direction to walk in.

Leaning Tower of Pisa Tickets And Tours

Whether you’ve been to Pisa or not, you’ll have undoubtedly heard about the city’s Leaning Tower. Forming part of the Piazza dei Miracoli (formerly the Piazza del Duomo), the tilting tower is the most iconic site in the city. The 56-meter high stand-alone bell tower, with its drastic 3.9-degree tilt, is a striking sight.

Against all the odds, it seems that building the tower over soft soil was part of an elaborate 800-year plan to put the little town of Pisa on the map. Wait...is that true? Non-ci credo! Of course it’s not true.

Learn the real story of why the Tower of Pisa leans;

Buy your Leaning Tower of Pisa tickets to find out more!

Your visit to Pisa will be incomplete if you do not climb to the top of its leaning tower and feel what it’s like to ascend through its spiral staircase. One of the most famous towers in the world, it is known not for its virtues but for its ‘defects’. The tower inclination leads us to think that one day it can fall, so before it does book your Pisa Tower climb tickets!

Galileo Galilei, during his experiments of mass and speed against gravity, apparently climbed to the top of the bell tower and dropped two spheres of different masses. Find out the truth about his attempt and many more stories of the leaning structure on your Pisa Tower Tour!

Visit Pisa Tower: The Highlights

  • Enjoy spectacular views of the Piazza dei Miracoli when you climb to the top of the tower (there are nearly 300 steps!).

  • Get spooked at the Pisa Cemetery, The Camposanto Monumentale. Prestigious professors of the local University and the Medici family (who ruled over the city back then) were buried there.

  • Study the Pisan Romanesque style of architecture in the Cathedral, built over 100 years before the iconic bell tower.

  • Test out the outstanding acoustics of The Baptistery of St. John the Baptist. Every half an hour, a guardian comes in to intonate a few notes. Stay to listen just how well the sound resonates around the space.

  • Feel like a politician in the medieval times while visiting the Piazza dei Cavalieri. Just a few blocks away from the Piazza, this was the headquarters of the Order of the Knights.

#Pisa Tower Picture Time!

People have been “holding up” the leaning tower for years, and now it’s your turn to jump on the bandwagon. But wait! Why don’t you have fun with it and try different poses and perspectives? Here are some ideas for you:

  • Get yourself a gelato but leave the cone as the last thing you eat. With the tower in the background, hold your cone as the base, so it looks like the tower is the ice cream.

  • Walk around the Square of Miracles to find that perfect angle, then place a straw at the top of the photo, and have your own Pisa Tower drink.

  • The tower is the main attraction, but the beauty of the buildings surrounding it make the tower jealous. Step a little bit further and snap a photo of the whole Piazza dei Miracoli.

Choose your most creative and humorous snap with the tower and post it on your IG. Tag #dotravelgram to be featured!
