A perfect day

My trip to Pompeii was great. We had a girl, "Claudia", she was really good and funny. She was always able to help and give good information. I booked a Guide with her. The guide was excellent, good knowledge and very kind. I recommend this site highly.

Much better than expected!

My thought when I saw the price was we’d only get a busride to get us to Pompeii and back! But I was pleasantly surprised! Claudia, our tourguide, was absolutely magnificent and gave us plenty of information, tips and hints. She helped us in every way possible and was willing and able to give more information about Rome (the place we stayed).

Just perfect

Guide was great. Lunch was nice. A long day but worth the trip. And nothing to do for the parents, it was perfect.

The once thriving city of Pompeii fell to ash and rubble in 79 AD. The story of Pompeii’s tragic demise is told best when you visit the ruins. Book your Pompeii tickets and explore the excavated archeological site for a real sense of the way of life before the volcanic disaster occurred. No trip to the region of Campania is complete without exploring Pompeii’s well-preserved roots.

Pompeii Ruins Tickets

For guaranteed access to the ruins, purchase your fast-track Pompeii tickets online; this also happens to be the most convenient and money saying option. Best of all, you won’t waste time in the queue. What’s more, whether you’re buying Pompeii tours or just paying the Pompeii entrance fee, you will always get the best ticket price when you reserve your tickets to Pompeii ruins in advance.

Watch out! Street vendors may try to sell you fake or overpriced entry tickets at Circumvesuviana train stations. If you aren’t able to book your tickets online, you can purchase tickets from one of the official ticket offices (such as at Porta Marina)!

Browse our selection of online tours and tickets to find the best price and Pompeii entrance ticket discounts.

Experience Pompeii

While the eruption of Vesuvius was a tragic event, it allows us to step back in time to gain a better understanding of the customs, religion, culture (there’s even satirical graffiti: some things never change!), lifestyle, architecture and much more. Perhaps most harrowing, and one of the biggest, takeaways from the Pompeii experience are the bodies you’ll see, now preserved in glass. The pain and desperation can still be felt and is so strong that you will find yourself feeling empathy for those who lost their lives.

Take a Pompeii Guided Tour

Some sites are better appreciated with a guide; this is one of them! Take a guided tour around the ancient city of Pompeii to learn about its rich history. Hear the stories of the people who lived in Pompeii, and explore the astonishingly well-preserved ruins. With a guide, you’ll gain a more comprehensive knowledge of the design of the city, and learn why it was built between a volcano and the sea. Allow a guide to bring the ruins to life in front of your eyes. As you walk the empty streets, virtually unchanged for nearly 2000 years, you can fully immerse yourself in the past.

Visiting Pompeii

Pompeii has been preserved since the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. A pyroclastic flow (a mixture of boiling hot rock and steam) killed most of the inhabitants here. The lava, however, acted as a mould, capturing the houses, streets, people and even animals exactly as they were. Think of it as a giant volcanic photograph! Taking one of the many day tours to the Pompeii archeological site is a must. You won’t regret buying your Pompeii tickets!

  • Palaestra (a wrestling school)
  • Capitolium (Temple of Jupiter)

  • Macellum (a market)
  • The old vineyard (not still operational, unfortunately!)

Is a day trip to Pompeii worth it?

If you want to feel immersed in the past and let your imagination run free, you should most definitely travel to Pompeii. History books can only provide so much information, but what they lack is feel. Visit the famous Pompeii archeological site, and learn all about the history of the area. If you are traveling from Naples or further, it’s best to book a tour that also includes your Pompeii admission tickets.

What are the different Pompeii tours on offer?

If you’re thinking of getting a guided tour, there are different options to suit your needs. You can either join in on one of the public Pompeii walking tours or book private tours of Pompeii. If you want to brave it on your own, you can choose to simply pay your Pompeii tickets entrance fee. In this case, we would recommend buying an audio guide!

All tickets and tours come with the option to buy “Pompeii Skip the Line Tickets”.

Should I do a Pompeii guided tour?

If you want to enjoy a comprehensive visit to the ancient city, hiring a guide is essential. Your guide will do more than tell you stories. They’ll ensure you see all the sites and, most importantly, understand what you’re looking at. Overlooking some of the famous temples of Pompeii could be easy without a guide. Would you know the Temple of Venus Pompeiana, if you saw it? How about the Temple of Apollo? Make your visit memorable by joining a group tour.

Extra! Extra!

Pompeii is still an active archaeological site; they’re continuously finding new gems from the past. On Valentine’s Day 2019, for example, a fresco of Narcissus was uncovered. The irony! As archaeologists continue to discover more, your Pompeii tickets allow you to do the same!
