Friendly staff

The buses are easy to use and the staff are friendly. Peak season the buses run every 10 mins so you’re never going to be waiting long.

Very crowded

It was so overcrowded. The queue for Mona Lisa said 45 mins, which was actually more like 90 mins.

Nice

I booked a day trip from London to Paris and had a good full day. It was a little pricey but was well worth the trip. A representative met the group at St Pancras International gave us our assigned train tickets to find on our own general information envelope with a map. On arrival, we were to find our next guide, which wasn’t an issue at all. We went to our bus and went through the city where our guide provided a lot of interesting history and information on the city and landmarks. We went to the Eiffel Tower, then on a Seine River cruise, and lastly to Musée d’Orsay as it was a Tuesday. When booking, it clearly states the Louvre is closed Tuesdays and Musée d’Orsay will be visited I already. I was actually happy about this as I love Van Gogh and there are several paintings by Van Gogh at Musée d’Orsay, and the time allotted to visit was limited. You would need more time to get through the Louvre than a fully packed day trip. After the museum, we went back to the train said goodbye to our guide. It was a very full and long day Cecile was very good at ensuring the group was together and provided a lot of good information on the city and history through out the day. There was not a lot of time to relax and eat so be prepared for a busy day. I thoroughly enjoyed this day trip and highly recommend it.

Picture Perfect #MonaLisa

Contrary to popular belief, you CAN take photos inside the art museum! But remember to turn your flash off.

No camera on earth can do justice to an artwork “in the paint” as it were. So instead of trying to capture Renaissance masterpieces on a smartphone, why don’t you snap one of these photogenic spots from around this Paris art museum?
  • The Pyramid: like it or love it, this controversial sculpture against the neoclassical building makes a great photo!
  • The Lamassu: enormous bulls with the heads of men, these colossal & ancient statues are truly insta-worthy.
  • Musée du Louvre panoramic shot from Le Café Marly. With your admission to Louvre, you’ll see all this and more!

Louvre Museum Tickets: Visitor Tips

  • On Wednesdays & Fridays the museum is open later: stay for sunset views from the upper windows.
  • Use the “secret Louvre entrance” of the Gallery at the Porte des Lions on the Georges Pompidou side.
  • Remember, drinks are expensive, and restrooms are few & far between when you visit the Louvre museum, so be prepared!
  • Most of the descriptions of the artwork are in French only, so to truly understand & appreciate the collection, a guided tour is highly recommended.
  • With nearly 40,000 works in 300 rooms, don’t attempt to see it all! Plan ahead and spend quality time with a fine selection of art.
  • 2-3 hours is the recommended amount of time to gain an appreciation for Paris’ best arthouse.
  • Short on time? Make the museum one of your top stops on a Paris hop-on hop-off bus tour.
  • As the largest art museum in the world, it is inevitably overwhelming. For a relaxing experience and to ensure you visit the Louvre highlights, book a Louvre museum tour and let your expert guide take you around.
  • If you want to visit outside Paris then taking a Palace of Versailles Tour is the best option to go for it.

Louvre Museum Tour: Prepare Your Visit

  • Wear comfortable shoes! The museum is spread over 60,000 feet and you may be walking for hours. Don’t let aching feet distract you from the stunning artwork.
  • Hydrate beforehand: there are very few drinking fountains in the museum and the beverages in the cafe are pricey.
  • Download the Louvre App on your smartphone, for an interactive map of all the floors.
  • This is the second most popular attraction in all of Paris, so expect huge crowds and long lines. If you don’t want to waste precious vacation times in the queue, purchase your skip the line Disney pairs tickets ahead of time.
  • The temporary exhibitions in Paris museums change all the time, check online to see what will be showing during your visit, as you may need separate tickets for the Louvre museum and other Paris attractions.
