Description

David was moved to the Accademia because of conservation reasons, besides the idea of creating a “Michelangelo Museum” in Florence. Nowadays, the Gallery has some of the Michelangelo’s works, includes the unfinished ones; Prisoners, the tomb of Pope Julius II and Statue of Saint Matthew. Moreover, Accademia Gallery is the house of numerous Florentine paintings from the 13th and 16th centuries, from the Medieval Ages to High Renaissance, as well as Florentine Gothic paintings and a collection of Russian Icons combined by House of Lorraine.
