History Sneak Peek

Giglio

Isola del Giglio is rocky, mountainous island of volcanic origins. Its located in the Tyrrhenian Sea just off the coast of Tuscany. The island rises to 498 m (1634 feet) and offers of 21 square kilometers (8 square miles) of natural paradise. So tiny, yet incredibly breathtaking! Despite the size, Giglio produces wine and has a thriving fishing industry.

The islands major tourist attractions include the medieval village, Giglio Castello, Campese bathing resort, as well as all those pure sandy beaches. The only landing spot on the island is the port, Giglio Porto, on the east coast.

Giannutri
Giannutri is the southernmost island of Tuscan region. It has a curious crescent-moon shape. Typically all the boats land at Spalmatoio Bay. However, if the wind is in favor, it's possible to land at Maestra Bay, as well. These two bays are the only spots where the rocky island opens onto a beach. The island is protected by a member of the Arcipelago Toscano National Park, so, swimming is not allowed everywhere. The islands most popular activity is snorkeling and scuba diving.

Besides all the earthly pleasures, you can find here a bit of history. Close to Maestra Bay are captivating ruins of a Roman villa from the 2nd century BC!
