History Sneak Peek

The region of Tuscany used to be a home of the advanced Etruscan civilization. It lived independently until Rome annexed the area in 351 BC. After the fall of the empire, different rules tried to rule over Tuscany. Nonetheless, the region managed to emerge as a political entity with its own rulers. In fact, the fastest growing Tuscan cities became so advanced they gradually gained more independence and formed independent republics.

By the late Middle Ages, important cities such as Arezzo, Siena, Pisa, Lucca, Pistoia, and Florence became wealthy trade centers. Unsurprisingly, little by little, Florence took power over all the cities within the region becoming the strongest of them all.

However, these couple of paragraphs just scratch the surface of things to learn and see in the vast and winding Tuscan countryside! Make your Tuscan vacations special and book our Tuscany tours from Florence today!
