History Sneak Peek

The area we know as Tuscany today used to be the home of the developed and prosperous Etruscan civilization. However, in 351 BC, like many other lands, it became a part of the Roman Empire.

Things changed after the fall of the empire. Tuscany experienced a rule of various foreign leaders. Nonetheless, in the end, it emerged as an individual political entity with its own rulers. After that, little by little, the main Tuscan cities flourished and grew more powerful. In fact, they earned their independence within the region and, gradually formed independent republics.

Tuscan history like its landmarks and attractions is very rich. From rural countryside, through cities to the sea, there is much to see and even more to learn. Book our 3-Day Combo Including Cinque Terre Day trip from Florence today and take your vacation to a whole new level.
