History Sneak Peek
Tuscany region used to be home to the Etruscan civilization. Etruscans occupied and flourished in the area for centuries. That is until the Roman Empire consumed them in 351 BC
Rise to Independence
However, even the mighty Roman Empire wasn't to last forever. After its fall, the region went through a myriad of foreign rulers. Still, after the power-thirsty turmoil over the region, Tuscany emerged as a singular political entity with its own leaders.
Thanks to its natural riches and strategic location, the region grew incredibly prosperous. In fact, the major Tuscan cities gradually gained independence and established independent republics! By the late Middle Ages, cities such as Arezzo, Lucca, Pistoia, Pisa, Siena, and, naturally, Florence became wealthy trade centers.
The story of Tuscany is much diverse and longer than this. You will do best to learn about it right there and then, so you can see, hear, and touch the history.
